Have you ever listened to Christian talk radio and asked yourself afterward – if it’s such good news, why are these folks so angry?
Have you wondered… well it sure sounds like great news for people who are already doing pretty well in life but… what about the good news for me? I live on the edge, I look funny, I swear, I do drugs, I am gay, I wish there were smoke breaks during worship, I live with mental illness, I listen to music that would make your eardrums shatter… where is my good news?
If you believe that there is more to faith than unconditional subservience to someone else’s God, someone else’s interpretation of scripture. If you believe that there is room in the conversation for people who have unconventional views. If you believe that God loves you – regardless of what a cabal of old, straight, white men have told you. . . Then HardCore Xianity is for you.
We are outcast. Someone who has been rejected by society or a social group. We are apostate. A person who renounces a religious or political belief or principle. We are Christian. A community of faith and spiritual energy, following the counter-cultural path thrown down by Jesus Christ.
We discovered our religious values and spiritual identity in the music, lyrics, and communities of 20th Century American HardCore. Much like Christianity, hardcore is not about a look, but about a state of mind. It is a state of mind that invites us to challenge oppressive structures, to stand in solidarity with the strange and the stranger, and to live honestly in a culture that seems to value conformity over authenticity and consumerism over compassion.
HardCore Xianity is much more than a podcast – it’s a way to be. We want to share the God we have experienced with you in ways that challenge an exclusive, defining kind of God and offer testimony and bear witness to a God that is beyond comprehension and exclusive to none. A God by many names and no names at all. Our website is not home to just the podcast – but also seeks to connect our wandering tribe of spiritually hunger wayfarers with our music, videos, poetry & other writings that gives expression to this HardCore edge of God’s Kingdom. We welcome you to HCX.
